The Fibromyalgia & Chronic Pain Research & Education Center opened with a 2-day event, May 11-12, 2007. Our Center programs advance the goals of the Department of Health Science, the College of Health & Human Development, and the University by providing an exemplary learning environment for students, conducting cutting-edge research that has contributed to the scientific knowledge base related to fibromyalgia and other chronic pain conditions, and creating a strong bridge between CSUF and surrounding communities through its direct service programming and outreach activities.  The Center also creates an atmosphere of inquiry and collaboration through its research activities. A diverse group of faculty, staff, and students (from Health Science, Kinesiology, Nursing, Psychology, Gerontology, and Sociology) are engaged in the conduct of intra- and interdisciplinary research that continues to advance our understanding and treatment of fibromyalgia and other chronic pain conditions. Basic and applied research projects are conducted in the Center laboratory facilities as well as the surrounding community.  Finally, the Center serves an important outreach function through its continuing education programs and workshops, FM and chronic pain support group, and solution-based consulting and evaluation services provided by faculty, staff, and students associated with the Center.
